Freedom-based living and working has never been more possible than it is today. Our search for happiness, balance, and exploration has led others to seek out alternative ways to live and work, carving the path for individuals and even companies to do this as well.
With technology now allowing you to work and collaborate without having to be in one physical place, this is a huge door for you to seek out opportunities that allows you to be financially supported, while ACTUALLY living your life outside of a traditional 9-5.
This week we’re going to talk about what the question I know that’s been keeping you up at night.
What the hell are you going to do for a living if you actually muster up the courage to quit your job?
Freedom-based career #1: Start a business
This is my favourite and best way to ACTUALLY sustain real freedom. Having an online or mobile business creates more freedom lifestyle choices for you.
Unlike brick and mortar businesses, this type of business can come with you…on a laptop! Technology is your friend.
Figure out how your best skills and best way of helping can be turned into a business idea that creates value..so you get paid!
Freedom-based career #2: Freelance or contract out your expertise
If you’re good enough to be in your corporate job, or have been paid for your work before, then you can outsource yourself
Not interested in having your own business but still want more freedom in the way you work? Or maybe you need some income to sustain you WHILE you build your business? This may be for you.

Freedom-based career #3: Find full time remote/virtual gigs
If you’re not ready for running your own ship or having heart palpitations about even finding freelance work, this may be for you.
Lots of companies are hiring remotely, as can they save costs on office space, insurance, equipment. And they understand that happy employees = productive ones.

So, as you can see, there are different options to plan your cubicle escape. There’s no one size fits all package, but at least knowing that there ARE other options besides slaving yourself another year…is a good thing.
You know what feels comfortable and how risky you want to be. You don’t need to jump ship into the abyss, so do what feels right fro you.
You may even do a combination of the options I just told you about. Like I did. I arranged a freelance contract with my old boss to help them transition after I quit, and built my business alongside that.
And guess what? Your risk threshold gets better, as you learn new things, and push the boundaries a little further for yourself each time.
But you only know what you know. So get curious about how others are going cubicle-free as well, because we are living in the most modern time, and with technology available at our fingertips
Our work is truly changing.

Loving your blog and channel! I am looking for ways to become a digital nomad/location independent. This has helped me think of other creative ways to possibly do that. I am married with a 3 year old, which complicates being a nomad a bit, so I have to balance both. But this has been really helpful! Thanks!
Glad the video and blog helped you get creative, Erica! What are some ideas that have sprung to you?
I know a few nomad families that have made it work and with 3 children at times! The first step is making your work more mobile and location independent so that when those discussions will be done with the fam, you’re in a position to make those choices.
Keep me in the loop!
