Imposter Syndrome Keeping You Stuck From Creating Your Business?

With Lydia Lee

If you are just starting out in your journey to create a freelance career or a business to escape your 9-5, you may be feeling imposter syndrome creeping up.

It’s a very common feeling to feel like an imposter for anyone starting anything new – seasoned business owners like myself included!

But, you don’t have to let the imposter syndrome kill your dreams!

In this video I will share with you 3 ways to stop feeling like an imposter, and focus on how you can become a trusted resource for the people you want to help.

#1: Stop comparing yourself to others and stay in your lane

“Comparison” and “Inspiration” are two different things. Comparing yourself to others will make you feel “behind”.

Instead of comparing yourself to someone who has been in the business for 10 years, focus on what YOU need in your stage of business.

What’s your next door to open? What is a mini goal and what are some bite-sized steps to get you there that can be done?

At times, it may not be complicated strategies, instead, it may be actually reaching out organically to people you know that may need your help.

#2: You don’t have to be an expert to start helping people

You can only grow your expertise by getting better at what you do.

That means you have to start NOW.

It is in the act of helping, where you master your craft, and get even better at what you do.

Chances are that you’re already doing something similar for the people in your life for free. Doing it as a business doesn’t have to feel that much different.

An expert is simply being one step ahead of someone else.

There’s always someone that doesn’t know what you know, and your knowledge and expertise can be very valuable to them.

And no, you don’t have to be a 20 year veteran in your field to do so.

In order to stand out in your new business, you have to SHOW UP.

All the people that need you don’t get the help they need until you offer it.

Your success depends on your genuine passion for others, your willingness to help, and for you to start doing it today.

#3: Do great work, one person at a time

There’s a big misconception where first time business owners think they have to build a big audience or list first before they can start doing great work.

What if your route to more clients is to help one person at a time?

The ONLY way to have the business of your dreams is to start by having the business you’re capable of now, and to genuinely help as many people as you can.

Give away your brilliance as often as you can. Seek out opportunities to share your knowledge and give someone they most powerful conversation you can have with them.

That is the true path to gaining credibility and experience with the work you want to do. One person at a time.

Rinse and repeat.

That is how you overcome the imposter demon.
