Former finance lawyer Elaine Sui reinvented herself as an e-commerce entrepreneur after attending one of my Bali-based retreats.
After working as a lawyer in the financial sector for 11 years, she was looking for something else, but like many corporate prisoners, she didn’t know what exactly.
“Your workshop was an important first step.It opened my mind to the possibility that I could start my own business,” she says.
“Previously I’d assumed I was destined to be an employee for the rest of my life, but at the retreat, I started to explore other options.”
This led to her first business in personal development. Before long, she’d written an an accompanying book, Seven Habits of Highly Stuck People, which uncovered the things that prevent high flyers from doing the work that makes them happy.
Looking for a way to express her support for animal welfare movement, she moved on to a second business, an e-commerce marketplace for cruelty-free and vegan beauty products.
“The retreat was really valuable. It helped me explore the values that actually drove me. It also forced me to analyse my lifestyle and critically ask myself how much I needed to be earning in order to be happy.”
“We covered lots of areas, including the questions you should be asking yourself. Both during the retreat and since, it gave me a lot of inspiration and support.”
Elaine now runs MINIMAL, the first 100% cruelty-free, vegan, eco-conscious beauty e-comm platform based in Hong Kong. Visit Elaine’s website to learn more.
